Followed by a conversation between Carl Craig and Ann Delisi of WDET.
Join us for the Detroit premiere of Desire: The Carl Craig Story, an intimate portrait of legendary techno innovator and DJ Carl Craig. Produced by Sovereign Films and set against Detroit’s evolving landscape, the film traces Craig’s rise from his middle-class roots to global stardom, performing everywhere from Carnegie Hall to Montreux Jazz Festival. Now embraced by the contemporary art world with recent exhibitions at MOCA in Los Angeles and Dia Beacon, this powerful film reclaims techno’s Black Detroit origins through Carl’s artistic journey.
Following a world premiere at Tribeca and a theatrical release in the UK and Ireland, this special Detroit premiere presented by Michigan Central during the 25th annual Movement Music Festival—which was co-founded by Craig in 2000—brings the story home.
